Fellow Dead Fans !!!  What !! a Dead-Show !!!!!  As yes-indeed ... I hope You ! were in there too - on 7/8/90 at the Good Ol' Three Rivers Stadium !! - in Pittsburgh, PA !!! ... known even-better today as - " View From The Vault !!! ".  The 1st ! ... & The-Classic !!  And ... offered here proudly is the Vintage Original ( Genuine / Authentic ) Grateful Dead Backstage Pass ( sticker-patch / satin ) for this Three Rivers Stadium Show ! in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania ( PA ) on July 8, 1990 ( 7/8/90 ) ... on the G.D. 1990 Summer Tour !!!!  Dead Fans !! ... if you were there on this-here Mammoth !!! day of Grateful Dead - then You ! are in the know.  Be seriously-proud of that " Life Accomplishment " ... & Grate ! Job.  And if you didn't catch the 7/8/90 Show at Three Rivers Stadium - well ... I'm glad to say that you indeed still have a " 2nd Chance Offer ! " ( Ha ! ) - in the form of the Grateful Dead " View From The Vault I " DVD !!  And it goes without saying - and re-stating the obvious ... there was way-good-reason this Amazing ! day-turned-night of Pittsburgh Live-Dead !! was so-accurately selected for Pro-Release ! ... because the Band was Red-Hot !!! ... on Sheer-Fire !!!!!  The DVD provides the ' Proof ' - so I don't even need to go on too much - like I like to !  But seriously ... they came out on stage - it was Hot-Sunny - felt like 120-degrees - and most of the Boys were wearing Shades !  They got down to business in an Instant ! - and the rest was just pure G.D. History !!  They Hammmmmered !!! this Show !! - through & through.  And the really funny thing is ?
- surprising, or not - you could argue that the set list itself looked kind of ' average '.  But my fellow Dead Fans ... this was one of those Dead-Days where basically Every-Single-Note ! was played with ' Perfection ' - Tones were ' On ' - the Band was completely " Dead-Sync " - - and Garcia was a Complete ! Fret board Monster !!  I used to always joke about how this was actually " Jerry " on this Pass ! - versus the Reonegro-designed " Voodoo Skeleton Zombie " looking guy !!?!!  I mean no joke ... as this was how-hard Garcia poured his Heart ! into this Show - much like most of the Summer '90 Tour ( & '89 Summer Tour too - for that matter ... ).  But to put it bluntly - he strikes a treble-rift in Black Peter !! for goodness sakes ... that is one of my Favorite ! Garcia Power-moves on the Axe ! - of All-Time !!  I'm totally-serious here ... and go right ahead & check it out for yourself !  And here we are talkin' about Black Peter ?!? - and not even the Samson ! - Greatest Story ! - Jack-A-Roe ! - Wang Dang ! - Minglewood ! - Let It Grow ! - Miracle & Lovelight ! Burners !!!!! that were delivered ' all-throughout ' this Wonderful ! Dead Show.  Folks, this Show was Mean !!! ... and it was one of the by-far Hottest ! of Summer Tour '90 - up there with Cal State ( May ) - Foxboro - Buffalo, and RFK !!!!  at least to my eyes, ears, and Dead Fan ' senses '.  Yeah ... a Mean Pass !! for a Mean Show !!! - right ?  Ha !  Reonegro completely nailed it on this G.D. Rock & Roll Beauty !  Just check out the photos ! ... & Enjoy !!!  Three-Rivers '90 !!!!! = Glorious ! Live G.D. !!!!!!!

Grateful Dead Fans ! ... and quite-possibly those from the Utah !! region - and maybe even Salt Lake City !!!  A pretty-place indeed, and quite often too - as White as Snow ! ... and " Champagne-Powder " style too ! - quite often.  But, during the Heat of Summer in 1981 ... a little less " Ski Utah ! " - and a little more " Rock & Roll !! ... with the Good Ol' Grateful Dead !! ".  Ha !  And too ... the Red-Hot ! '80's Grateful Dead ! - on the '81 Summer Tour !!!  And ... offered here indeed is the Very-Rare ! Vintage Original ( Genuine / Authentic ) Grateful Dead Backstage Pass ( sticker-patch / satin ) for the August 12, 1981 ( 8/12/1981 ) Salt Lake City - Utah ! Show - at the Old " Salt Palace " on the 1981 Grateful Dead Summer Tour !!!  And ... quite the interesting G.D. and Rock & Roll Relic! here for certain ... as this is one of the Very-Cool & Rare ! " Large " style Grateful Dead ' Dead Set ' designed Passes that were used with only a very-short consistency during this 1981 Tour !  And ... as far as playing " Utah " goes - a Way-Rare ! occasion for-certain, for the Dead over their 30-Year ( 1965 - 1995 ) Career !  They actually only played all of Utah ! Nine ( 9 ) Times ! during their 30-Years ... and, that even includes the 3-Shows at the Delta Center in Salt Lake, on the Last & Final Spring Tour in 1995.  So, if it wasn't for those ... then Only-6 !!!!!!  And, since it is a short-list indeed - I " Might As Well " share the G.D. / UT History ! ... Seven ( 7 ) Shows in Salt Lake, and Two ( 2 ) Shows in Park West, in the following order. >>> 4/12/1969 University Of Utah ( Student Union Ballroom ) - 9/26/1970 ( Terrace Ballroom ) - 2/28/1973 & 8/12/1981 ( This-Pass !!! ) at the Salt Palace - 9/4/1983 & 8/20/1987 in Park West ( at the Park West Ski Resort ! ) - and then Last, but most definitely not Least ! ... 3-Shows at the Delta Center ( Home of the Utah Jazz ! ) on 2/19/1995 - 2/20/1995 - 2/21/1995.  So ... needless to say - " Utah-Dead " Memorabilia is quite a Rare Score ! for sure, as there were just not too-many chances for any to be issued, made, or sold.  And, as far as the " Salt Palace " Grateful Dead History goes ... the 1973 Show was so Remarkable ! that it was even included on a " Dick's Picks " - Dick's Picks # 28 in the 1993 - 2005 Grateful Dead Archival CD Set releases by Grateful Dead Productions !!!  And, at least for me personally ... as much as I have enjoyed the '69 - '70 - '73 " Utah Dead " mentioned - it is really the 1981 & 1983 Shows ! that I grab for the Most ! in my Cherished Analog Tape Collection !!!  The '83 Show was one of the Best ! of the '83 Late-Summer / Early-Fall West Coast run ... and, as far as '81 goes ?  Pretty-much Every ! Show on this August West Coast run was a Smoker !!! - as the Dead were on Pure-Fire ! ... as being one of their less popular periods overall, at least to the ' masses ' - they could really play some Awesome ! & Intimate !! much-smaller Venues, with the " Salt Palace " Show on 8/12/81 certainly being no exception.
The Dead played over 20-Songs ! at this '81 Salt Lake Show ... and really opted to Push ! virtually All ! of the Musical-Boundaries, of both Time !  & ... Space !!  Alabama > Greatest opened the Show ! - Friend Of The Devil got delivered nicely, which ... I'm sure went over well in the local press reviews.  Ha !  Jack-A-Roe > C.C. Rider Smoked !! - Althea led to a Sailor > Saint 1st Set Closer ... and then, it was Good Ol 1980's ! Grateful Dead Psychedelic Rock & Roll !!! time - throughout All ! of Set II.  I mean just check This ! out my fellow Dead Fans, as it's on paper only, I know ... but - it does-not lie - just check-out " The Tapes " for yourself !!!  Ha !  As I still ! just Love ! saying " Tapes " !!  Set II >>> Might As Well > Women Are Smarter, Scarlet > Fire, Estimated > Eyes > Srums/Space > Spanish Jam > Truckin' > Morning Dew ! > Around & Around > Good Lovin' ... with some Good Ol' U.S. Blues ! as the Encore !!!  See what I mean ?!  As the Band was quite-obviously Real-Keen ! of being back to the " Salt Palace " for the 1st time Since ... 1973 !  And, as you can easily tell by the Set list below ... they Absolutely-Hammered ! this Show - leaving their Grateful-Mark ! on Salt Lake City, and all of those Loyal Utah Dead Fans out there !!!  8/12/81 at the Salt Palace ! - in Salt Lake City !!! - Very-Rare !! & Very-Very Awesome !!! ... Enjoy !!!!!
