G.D. 11/29/81 at the Pittsburgh Civic Center ... also well-known as The Pittsburgh Penguins " Igloo " !! - on the 1981 Winter Tour !!!  As after-all ... how can it get ' Cold ' at all - in the Dead ! of Winter ( even in Pittsburgh, PA ! ) ... when the Grateful Dead are Playin' This-Hot !!! - '81 Winter Tour !!!  Rock & Roll !!!  As this is the Vintage Original ( Genuine / Authentic ) Grateful Dead Backstage Pass ( sticker-patch / satin ) for the November 29, 1981 ( 11/29/81 ) Pittsburgh Civic Arena ( " The Igloo !!! " ) Show in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania ( PA ) !!!  And Whoa !?!?! ... This-Show was sure was Hot !  While, in fact - this '81 Winter Tour Stop in Pittsburgh was the '81 Winter Tour " Opening-Show " !  Right on a fairly short & brief ... b
ut Super-Red-Hot ! Grateful Dead ' Winter ' Tour in '81 - with likely the greatest importance being ... " So Boys, How-Was that Europe '81 Tour !!?! "  Do you catch my drift on this one ?  There were only really Eight ( 8 ) ' immediate ' chances to hear exactly how things were sounding for the Band - after a fairly-sizable ... and significantly-underrated ! " Europe '81 " Tour ! a sort of " Home at ( instead of Winterland ) - Pittsburgh, PA ! > University of Dayton > University of Illinois > Madison, Wisconsin > Market Square in Indiana > the Rosemont Horizon in Illinois > Des Moines, IA > University of Colorado - at Boulder ! ".  Well, you know - not quite ' Home ' - but still definitely " back-home " in the U.S.A. ... with the Good Ol' U.S. Dead Fans !!!  And my oh my ... as a number of these Winter Tour '81 Tapes were personally recommended to me by a trusted " Taper-Friend " in the Late-1980's - and I so-gladly took the suggestion seriously !  I mean people ... this is flat-out Fiery ! Early-'80's Dead !! - with Garcia !!! just delivering Fret-Board-Fury ! all-throughout this Entire ! Show.  In the '80's the ' Soundboards ' from this run were indeed few & far between - as most Folks I knew at the time were circulating Audiences - and, very-nice ones at that.  Everybody seemed to want these Shows dialed - as the Band was So-Hot !  Some of the Prime / Primary days of the " lay-it-all-out " '80's G.D. Attitude ! - with copious ' chances ' being taken.  And these days ... thanks to Digital Technology - and the kind continued efforts of the Grateful Dead Family ... you can know even get the 12/9/1981 Boulder Colorado Show on CD ! ... in the form of Dave's Picks Volume 20 !!!  So-Hot Too !!  I mean here way-back in '81 = these were still the days where a 10-Song 1st Set was still a distinct possibility, and at this Show - you bet ... the Band delivered one ! - and delivered it with Fire !! - opening this 11/29/81 Pittsburgh Show ! with Shakedown Street !! ... and even into Greatest Story Ever Told !  The C.C. Rider Smokes ! - as does the Me & My Uncle > Big River ! ... and the Might As Well Set I Closer too !!  As it should also be noted that this Althea is also might-special - and well worth a listen.  Set II brings some serious-Fire ! at times too - with a Rockin' ! Samson busting right out of the gate !  The Sailor > Saint is both subtle & powerful - and the transition into He's Gone ? ... Nothing ! short of Beautiful !!  Space molds into a Rock & Roll ! version of Truckin' ! - and a lay-it-all-out Satisfaction ! closes this Set with a Big-Time Gusto !!  U.S. Blues ! for the Encore - and from there ... it was onto the University of Dayton for the Boys - the Very-Next-Night !  Amazing stamina - for sure ... considering just how hard some of the up-tempo Jamming ! is for this Magnificent !! '81 Winter Tour !!! ... as " In & Out of the ' Igloo ! ' They Go !!! ".  Classic ... for sure.  As Dead Fans got more-than ! a toe-to-toe '81 G.D. Heater !! at this Pittsburgh Civic Show !!! ... Enjoy !!!!!
