    Grateful Dead Backstage Pass : 1992 : Shakedown Street's 1978 Shakedown Sam !!! ( aka. " The Invisible Man ! " ... ( GDP ) - Vintage Original ( Genuine / Authentic ) : The ' Return !! ' of " Casey Jones !!! " : Very-Rare !!!
Grateful Dead Fans !!!  Whoa !?!  So ... I suppose the question really is - what does this Green Suited Leisure Suit Man ! mean to You !!  Or, better asked ... exactly What ? do you call him - as it truly would be an excellent Deadhead survey !  " The Invisible Man " ? ... " Shakedown Sam " ? ... " Stagger Lee " ? ...  Ha !  I don't know, but I like'em all - and the good thing is - that you know that you can Always ! find him Smilin'! & Snappin' his Fingers !! right on Shakedown Street !  Oh my ... The Grateful Dead at RFK on June 20, 1992 !!!  So ... here's the ' other ' question - just exactly what does this " Legendary " Early-'90's G.D. Show mean to You !  Because to me, this here - was one of the Grate-est ! Days of My Life !  And, I most certainly think that I'm not in the minority - if you too were one of the ' Lucky Ones ' to be inside the rustic & proud Good Ol' Home of the Washington Redskins !  Well, at least in this fine-era - the one that many Dead Fans know as the Early-'90's !!!  I myself am proud to say that I had it pretty nice & kicked into gear on this '92 Summer Tour ! - as I started off in Charlotte ... and Toured through Buckeye !  I caught 10 in a row - and in the case of this East Coast / Midwest Dead swing - this meant that our Traveling Circus Tour-Team touched down in Charlotte ( NC ) > D.C. ( RFK ) !!! > Star Lake ( PA ( basically WV ! ) ) > Chicago ( Soldier Field ) > Deer Creek ( IN ) > and Buckeye Lake ( OH ) ! ... at least this was the portion of this '92 Summer Tour that I ran - as there were also some dates prior at Richfield ( OH ) - Albany ( at the Knick ! ) - and at Giants Stadium ( NJ / NY ).  So ... even down at the Charlotte Shows - there were some Rumors ! " Swirlin' " that the Band had actually been ' Soundchecking ' Casey Jones !?!  And, because this talk was coming from the known & trusted - in addition to the other general talk - I actually believed that we might get it ?  But, you know ... us Deadheads - " Forever Hopeful " - right ?  So, the Charlotte Shows were pretty darn tight - and it certainly appeared that the Boys could go for something big like that - if they would choose to.  The Deal - China > Rider & Good Lovin' were all exceptionally-hot on the 6/17/92 night - and during the 6/18/92 Show - the Stranger & Let It Grow both Cooked ! in the 1st Set - and in the 2nd set right out of Drums > Space ? >>> well, try this on for size ... Space > Dark Star Jam > Watchtower > Dew !  And, oh boy did Garcia find-it on that Dew !!  Killer ... and, being in the South - you could actually hear a pin drop inside the Charlotte Coliseum.  Just awesome.  So ... no " Casey Jones " - but RFK was next on 6/20/92 - and, I have to admit - I was thinking at the time that " If " they were going to play it - wouldn't it have been likely that they would kick it down at the Giants Shows ?  But, then I got thinking ... how dang Prankster ! would it be to lay it down right smack dab in the Nation's Capital !?!  You know ... just " Drivin' That Train ! ... High On Cocaine !! " - right down the street from Congress - The White House - and George W. Bush !  Hah !! ... as now That ! sounds like a Great Idea & a Memorable Party that I would like to be a part of.  Right-On !  And, keep in mind too ... that Casey Jones had not been driven by the Boys since the Killer ! Halloween run at the B.C.T. in Bezerkley - on 11/2/84 ! to be exact.  So, this is a close to 7-Year hiatus ! that we are talkin' about her - I mean would they do it ??  Well ... Set 1 was very D.C. style - in that Cold Rain & Snow - Maggie's Farm - Row Jimmy & Tennessee Jed all got played !  And, if you happened to see a lot of RFK Shows like me ?  Then ... you know exactly what I'm talking about.  But then Set II rolls around ... and they are getting into the Heavy-Groove !  After a Corinna > Crazy Fingers ... things start to get Hot !  They just Blast-out !! a Playin' > Uncle Johns ! ... and deliver it so eloquently into Drums > Space.  And, during Space - Garcia starts into the little ' Shenandoah ' instrumental theme that he had been playing around with, and it was real-nice !  And then ... the Locomotive Airhorns too ?  But, nice & subtle - as Billy had been using them for a while prior, on this Tour ... which in hindsight - Thanks ! for the ' Hint ' B.K. !!!  So, Jerry comes slowly out of Space > Shenandoah ... to a virtual stand-still, and then Boom !! Billy explodes the Locomotive Airhorns !!!  Kind of a Honk ! ~ Hoooonnnnk !!! thing ... and then Blammo !!!!!!!!  Garcia lays-down the opening treble rifts Perfectly ! - and it is ON !!!!!  " Driving That Train ! ... High On Cocaine !!! ... Casey Jones You Better Watch Your Speed !!! " - and that Whole ! Stadium just Exploded !! with Joy !!!  I was on the Field with my Buddy - just about under 30-Yards back right in front of Jerry ... and this was a Sight ! to see.  This Field was going Absolute-Nuts ! ... and then I took a close look up top - as RFK kinda looks like a pool-triangle - and the seats up top are just Movin' !!!  Wow.  Unbelievable !!!  Without any question - both this Casey Jones ! & the Loose Lucy ! kick down at the Cap Center on 3/14/90 are the Most Amazing ! " Instant " Crowd-Explosions ! that I have even seen in Rock 'n Roll ... and believe me - I've seen some Rock 'n Roll ! in my time !  I walked right out into the lot & bought a Tie-Dye because I wanted to always remember this Forever !  I call That-Shirt " Casey Jones !!! " and still have it today ( of course ... ).  In fact, I met the Love of my Life ! when I was wearing it to go see a Garcia Show at the Warfield in '94 - and she's in the room next to me here today ! ... right now as I type !  So, as it goes without saying ... that's my Lucky-Shirt !  And, whenever I need a little luck - I'll put it on & wear it still today !  But of course, very-very carefully !  This-here my fellow Fans is indeed the Power !! of The Grateful Dead !!!  Enjoy !!!!!

Wow ... what a G.D. Backstage Pass !!  A Train Pass !!!  And as we all well-know, you just can't help but Love ! a Train-theme design when it comes the The Grateful Dead !!!  And Dead Fans ... this isn't just any " Train " - as we are looking at a Santa Fe Locomotive Engine Train ... # 99 ! - with Grateful Dead painted on the side !!  I don't know about you - but this one gets my mind thinking " Festival Express " ! ... one of the Finest ! Movie-documentaries Ever ! in the History of Rock 'n Roll ... Whoa !  Holy-Canada !!  An Amazing ! G.D. Train Pass design here for certain ... and I'm pretty certain that this unique & very-popular ( obviously ... ) design was used in only 1984 & 1985 on Backstage Passes for Grateful Dead Tours !  Never used anywhere else, to my knowledge - which is a true-shame, as I would have been Sold !! if they had made this beauty into a T-Shirt !!  Way too few G.D. Train-Shirts ever made, but Thankfully ! the Late / ' Grate ! ' Rick Griffin did just Nail-it ! with the 1987 Dylan & The Dead Tee !  And, there was a pretty-darn-cool ' Train ' Tee made for the Last & Final Tour of the Grateful Dead in 1995 !  Just try & visualize ...  Train-Train ! - just Rollin' down that Track !  And ... for all of you Taper-Deadheads out there - now just think back, if you will ... how excited were we - that this Show was featured as a Nationwide Radio Broadcast !?! ... because, as quite often in this case - we all had these tapes relatively quick !  I'm pretty sure this was one of my 1st " 1984 " G.D. acquisitions ?!?  And ... years & years later - this one even surfaced ' digitally ' ? ... in the form of " God Times For All Time " !  Classic & mysterious title for certain, but - I still kept my analogs ... because as we all well-know - you just cannot fit CD's in a Nak ! ... Ha !!!  Hail to Cassettes ... as I guess they will degrade before I'm even nearly tired of them.  Nothing ! like that crisp, cool & ' warm ' analog sound ... Yes !  Are we having fun yet ?!  Classic ...  But, my serious point being that this Pass is even Cooler ! - as most-all of us have enjoyed this Show for years !!!  Keep in mind too ... as this night was a SEVA Benefit Concert, with The Band ! opening for the Boys !!!  And, this is '84 Garcia Axe-work too we are talking about - and, at least to my ears ... that means that you can rarely ! go wrong.  Red-Hot ... while rollin' this Santa Fe G.D. Train !!!  Certainly ... one of the coolest G.D. Pass designs of all time, when it comes to the Non-Skeleton / Roses / Psychedelic / Dancing Bears, etc. themes.  Fact is, this one is for the Guy or Gal who loves their Trains !!  A most-important part of U.S. American History ... Just-like ! The Grateful Dead !!!  Almost ! 20-Years here So Far here in '84 ... Scarlet > Fire ! - Samson > Terrapin ! --- and a little ' New Orleans ' - Big Boss Man > Iko Iko ( with The Band ! ) for Encore time !!!  Dang ... I mean Mid-'80's G.D. - Whoa ?!? -- speak to me & speak to me Loudly !!!  Smokin' .......  Enjoy this serious G.D. meets Canada ! Backstage Pass Treasure from yesteryear.  A Fantastic ! Grateful Dead & Rock 'n Roll Collectible !! ... & in Train-Style !!!!!!!
