the
'87 Spring Tour Roanoke Civic Center Show ! - in Roanoke, Virginia
on July 7th, 1987 ( 7/7/87 ) !! And Whoa !!! ... what an Incredible ! G.D. Backstage I'm grateful to offer here my fellow Fans - and as I'm sure you're already well aware ... this Art-Masterpiece is by the Mouse ! himself - ' Stanley Mouse ' that is. The One & Only !! I assume you are familiar with Mouse's Legendary ! " Egypt '78 " Artwork used on the Official Program - Tour Shirt, etc. - pretty much everywhere possible for the Grateful Dead Family's Historic " Big Trip ! " to Cairo, Egypt ! in September 1978. Well, the Original Mouse design ( only less than 10-Years old at the time - way back in '87 ) ... included Mouse-esque " Characters " of each stage-position of the Band Members - there were " Drummers " ( B.K. & Mick ) ... a " Singer " ( Donna-Jean ) ... and three " String-Players " ... ( Phil - Bobby & Jerry ! ) >>> and this one here ... it is/was the " Keyboard-Player " Character - which Mouse designed at the time to represent Keith Godchaux ! So here in 1987... it works just as well in the " Brent " Era - with Brent Mydland obviously taking over the G.D. Keyboard-duties from 1979 - 1990 ! ... and often with reckless abandon - passion & soul ! too, might I add. As we all very know - there is just-one Brent !! So, check out the photos of this beautiful Orange - Pink & Black ! G.D. Backstage Pass !! ... of Keith !!! But obviously, made & used by GDP in 1987 ... it now also stood for Brent ! '87 Summer Tour - in Roanoke, VA !!! Pretty awesome, right ? I say so ... This Pass design was only used a few times by the Grateful Dead - mostly in the Late-'80's / Early '90's - and even on a ' Blank ' ( no-date ) G.D. Pass too - at one time in the '90's which was also pretty cool. If you're the type of G.D. Fan that only Collects the Rarest - Coolest - and the Best ! ... well, then This-Pass ( for Roanoke !! ) might just Definitely ! be All-You !! Certainly one of my own personal favorites ... Hail to the Mouse ! - and of course too ... Hail to the Good Ol' Grateful Dead !! -- Enjoy !!!

Grateful Dead Backstage Pass : 1981 :
Rick Griffin " G.D. Skull & Crossbones !! " Art ! : Spring Tour '81 ! : February 26, 1981 ( 2/26/81 : 2/26/1981 ) -
Uptown Theater - Chicago, Illinois ( IL ) : 1981 Grateful Dead Productions, Inc. ( GDP ) - Vintage Original ( Genuine / Authentic ) : Very Rare !!!
G.D. Fans !!! - and, all those who know a Nice-Piece ! of Rick Griffin Art !! when they see one ... " G.D. Skull & Crossbones " !!! Wow ... as what would the Late-'70's & Early-'80s be - if it wasn't for this Legendary ! Grateful Dead Logo Image !?! So-Crucial ... that it was even featured on the Cover ! of the 1981 Grateful Dead Tour Program ! Very-very nice. Well, offered here is the Vintage Original ( Genuine / Authentic ) Grateful Dead Backstage Pass ( sticker-patch / satin ) for the 1981 Spring Tour Show - at the Uptown Theater in Chicago, Illinois ( IL ) ! ... on February 26, 1981 ( 2/26/1981 ) !! Griffin's Fantastic ! Design-Image is the center point of this Amazing ! G.D. Pass - in ' Orange ' too - for this 2/26/81 Pass !! This was a Historic ! Live-Dead run not only in the Exceptional ! caliber of playing that the Dead delivered at this Chicago stand in the Windy City ! But also ... this was actually the ' Tour-Opening ' run of the '81 Spring Tour ! and 1981 Touring-Year !! for the Grateful Dead !!! And ... though this Show did happen darn close to 40-Years Ago ! - at the time, this was essentially an ' ending ' of an G.D. Era - for both the Band, and the Fans too - as this 3-Show run at the " Uptown " ( 2/26/1981 > 2/27/1981 > 2/28/1981 ) was the Last & Final ! run of Shows the Grateful Dead would ever play at the ' Music-Friendly ' & Historic ! Venue - known as the Uptown Theater !!! The Grateful Dead played a generous Seventeen ( 17 ) Times ! at the Uptown - from 1978 to 1981 ... and managed to deliver their one & only kind of Live-Magic ! every-single-year ! ' between ' 1978 & 1981 - which, was a very-impressive & consistent ! Live Rock & Roll feat !! Whether it was Winter - Spring - Summer - or Fall Tour ... the Dead would make it to " The Uptown " ! Which very-very easily makes this special Venue the ' Main ' Grateful Dead Chicago-Home! - by, a long-shot. In fact ... the only other ' Chicago Venues ' that came even close to this impressive Chicago Show-count for the Grateful Dead was the Auditorium Theater - where the Band played 10-times ( from 1971 to 1977 ) - the Rosemont Horizon ... where they played 13-times ( from 1981 to 1994 ) - and ... last but most definitely not least - Soldier Field ! where the Dead played 9-times ( from 1991 to 1995 ). So obviously, for Dead Fans - Regional ( Mid-West ! ) Dead Fans - and for the Band themselves ... the Uptown was quite the special place - with some serious ! G.D. Live-Magic memories. And over the years - this 2/26/81 Show ( the 1st Show ! & '81 Spring Tour Opener !! ) is probably the most ' accessible ' of these 3-Shows music wise, and - by many Dead Fans too ... it is also considered the Very-Best ! overall of this '81 Uptown / Chicago run !! A Stellar ! G.D. Pass Set for certain - and ... at least to my own eyes ... you can just Never ! go wrong when it comes to Rick Griffin Art !! And hopefully You ! were inside the Uptown for This ! " Magical " 1981 G.D. Chicago night !!! ... Enjoy !!!!!
