" Superhero ... Thor !! on the Grateful Dead Backstage Pass for the Last / Final Tour-Stop ! & the ' 2nd to Last ' Grateful Dead Show - " Ever " !!!!!
Fellow Dead Fans ... Wow. I mean just ' looking ' at this Pass gives me the goosebumps - just to think of the overall-meaning with this one. The 2nd to Last Show Ever ! for the Good Ol' Grateful Dead ... July 8th, 1995 - at Soldier Field ! in Chicago !! All I can say in hindsight is - well, I guess we should just count out lucky stars that we got to see of them when and as much as we did ... and, it's probably really better that nobody knew that 7/8/95 & 7/9/95 would indeed be the ' Last ' Tour-Stop of the Best Live Band Ever ! ... the Grateful Dead !!! Just imaging if there was actually a situation where a " Last / Final " Dead Show was billed as such ?!? I mean talk about some serious ticket mayhem ... Whoa ?!? Well, offered here ( with always mixed-emotions, obviously ... ) is the Vintage Original ( Genuine / Authentic ) Grateful Dead Backstage Pass for the Last & Final Tour Stop of the Grateful Dead ... the 2nd to Last Show Ever ! by the Band ... July 8, 1995 ( 7/8/1995 ) - at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois ( IL ). It opened with Jack Straw ! - closed with One More Saturday Night ! - delivered a U.S. Blues Encore ! -- and, delivered China > Rider ! ... The Other One ! ... and even a Visions Of Johanna ! right in the middle ! Wow ... the 2nd to Last Dead Show - and the Final Tour-Stop of the Grateful Dead. Pretty darn crazy to think ... two completely Sold-Out ! Shows - on a completely Sold-Out ! 1995 Summer Tour !! One, unfortunately riddled with problems though - as we all well know, portions of the scene were getting well out of hand. Sad, but true ... and at least in my opinion - so much of it felt so unavoidable. The Grateful Dead had become a Touring-Machine ! for the Fans, but with that - is obviously the aftermath. Getting on the Road in Summertime, basically meant Large ! Venues, and just as in the case of Soldier Field ... Stadiums ! Huge Stadiums, with Tons ! of Fans. These stresses on a Band in just Year 30 ! were pretty-massive ... and, extra hard on Jerry. Even Phil Lesh stated publicly - he called for a " double-encore " on 7/9/95, and dropped the Box Of Rain ! - because he just had a funny feeling that it might well indeed be the end. And just not too long ago, in Rolling Stone Magazine ... Phil sort of mentioned the " What If " factor - if the Band would have taken the time, rest & break from Touring that was equally needed for all, and - especially for Garcia. I'm just glad that I saw all the Shows that I did, and that we still have the Music ! But, on the other hand ... here it is like over 20-Years later - and I have come to the inevitable conclusion that this '95 ending of the Grateful Dead will never not be sad. Joy ? You bet ... tons & tons of it. But, parts that are sad, tragic, and the type of happenings that Fans who lived-through it will just never forget. As not too long ago ... I was lucky enough to see Stephen Stills completely Smoke ! a Fender Strat in a real-intimate indoor Venue - Solo, with the Steve Stills Band ! - and, with him being like 70 ? ... it just really made me think of Jerry. A guy that only ever really got " Better ! " on guitar ... I mean how far along, different & ' evolved ' would he be here today ? In just his early 70's ??! Definitely makes you think, indeed ... Well, regardless - I will Forever ! be Grateful ... and that is for certain. This Grateful Dead unit in the Late '80's & Early '90's was likely the best-thing that I will ever see on this Planet ... and of that, I am well aware - and just completely Thankful . I just think it is so incredibly cool that Thor ! is on this 7/8/95 Chicago Pass ... as he is a Superhero that represents both Resilience ! & Strength !! - just like our beloved Grateful Dead did, and always still will in our hearts. The Strongest ! of the Strong !! A Beyond-Essential ! piece of both Grateful Dead ! & Rock 'n Roll !! History !!! - for all-reasons clearly obvious. Enjoy !!!!!
